To create the advertisement, I decided to use a photograph of a local athlete in action, running across the Brooklyn Bridge at sunrise. The photo encapsulated the spirit of the event and allowed me to incorporate the logo and branding in a dynamic way. I used the same color scheme and brush strokes from the logo to create a cohesive visual language throughout the advertisement. To complement the photo, I chose a font that was bold and modern, but also legible at a distance.
One of the challenges I faced during this project was balancing the abstract and literal elements of the logo design. I wanted the logo to be recognizable and representative of Brooklyn, but also visually interesting and unique. I experimented with different shapes and angles of the bridge, eventually settling on a simplified, geometric design that conveyed the essence of the structure without being overly detailed.
Creating an advertisement for a local event was a great opportunity to connect with my community and showcase my design skills. It was rewarding to see my work displayed throughout the neighborhood and to feel a sense of pride in representing Brooklyn through my design.
