The Office of the Brooklyn Borough President website was designed to create a modern, accessible digital experience that reflects both the responsibilities of the office and the personality of Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. The website serves as a central hub for residents to learn about borough initiatives, access community resources, stay informed about events, and understand the work being done across Brooklyn.
When approaching the design, my goal was to move beyond the traditional visual language often associated with government websites. I wanted to create an experience that felt more personal, energetic, and representative of a new generation of civic leadership. Antonio Reynoso’s story played a major role in shaping the direction of the design. As a Brooklyn native who grew up in Williamsburg and became the youngest Borough President elected to a four-year term, his identity is deeply connected to the communities he represents.
The challenge was finding the balance between professionalism and personality. Government websites often prioritize information above emotion, but I wanted this platform to communicate that there was a person behind the office. The design needed to reflect Reynoso not only as a public official, but as someone who grew up in Brooklyn, understands its neighborhoods, and represents a younger perspective on leadership.
To express that character, I focused on creating a visual system that felt approachable, contemporary, and community-focused. Through bold layouts, modern typography, strong imagery, and a more dynamic user experience, the website was designed to feel less like a traditional government portal and more like an extension of Brooklyn’s identity—diverse, evolving, and full of energy.
A key part of the design process was highlighting the connection between the Borough President and the people he serves. Rather than presenting the office as distant or institutional, the website emphasizes accessibility, storytelling, and community engagement. The goal was to create a digital experience where residents could easily navigate important information while also feeling connected to the person and mission behind the office.
Working with the team, I helped develop a website that balanced civic responsibility with a youthful, forward-thinking identity. The final design reflects a new era of borough leadership—one that honors Brooklyn’s history while continuing to build toward its future.
