For the 2026’s State of the Borough, I was tasked with creating a distinctive visual identity that reflected the Brooklyn Borough President's vision, leadership, and the vibrant character of Brooklyn itself. Unlike previous projects, this concept required developing a brand from the ground up, and finding the right creative direction proved to be the biggest challenge.
The breakthrough came during a team brainstorming session when a colleague remarked, "All roads lead to Brooklyn." That phrase became the foundation of the entire campaign. From there, I built the visual identity around Brooklyn as New York City's cultural and transportation hub, using transit-inspired graphics to symbolize the borough's connectivity, movement, and influence. A bold, colorful palette represented Brooklyn's diversity, energy, and the many communities that make it unique.
At the center of the design, the Brooklyn Borough President is positioned within a circular composition that highlights key initiatives and accomplishments from his administration. Radiating transit lines connect each project back to the center, visually reinforcing the idea that every path leads back to Brooklyn and its continued growth.
Working closely with the communications team, I refined the concept into a cohesive brand system that elevated the event's visual presence across digital and print materials. The final identity successfully communicated both the Borough President's accomplishments and Brooklyn's role as one of New York City's most dynamic and interconnected boroughs.
