As a Graphic Designer, I have always been fascinated by the unique and vibrant culture of New York City, particularly the iconic bodegas that are so ingrained in the city's identity. When tasked with creating a food truck design, I immediately knew I wanted to draw on this inspiration and create a design that was both eye-catching and unique.
I decided to put a creative spin on the traditional bodega food offerings by incorporating some of the more unusual and outlandish food orders that I had witnessed during my time in high school. I also added some playful humor by giving these menu items names that are characteristic of the New York dialect, such as "Yo, Gimme Dat Bacon, Egg, and Cheese" and "Fuhgeddaboudit Philly Cheesesteak."
To bring this design to life, I drew on the iconic imagery of the New York City subway system, with bold, black and white typography that harkens back to the classic subway signage. The design incorporates bright pops of color in the form of vibrant food illustrations and accents, adding a playful and youthful element to the overall design.
While I designed this food truck with a specific target audience in mind – suburban areas of the southern states – I believe that the design would be universally appealing to anyone who loves bold, playful design and delicious, unique food offerings. Whether parked on a busy city street or at a local festival or event, this food truck would certainly turn heads and draw in crowds.
